Jonah: Chapter 1

The first in our series on the book of Jonah, a story of a man running from God. Pastor Chris unpacks chapter 1.

The Purpose of Everything: You

The Purpose of Everything: God

The first in a series about why everything exists and is…kind of a big topic. The first week is about God’s purpose.

Night of Worship and a New Series

This Wednesday, September 28th, we’re joining with the church to praise Jesus in one voice for a worship night! Here’s a little invite that Aaron made:

Night Of Worship INVITE #2! Tell Your Friends! from Willamette Christian Church on Vimeo.

There’s no doubt that it will be a night to remember.

Hey, don’t go anywhere though because on October 5th we’ll be starting our new series on the book of Jonah. Jonah is the story about a man trying to run from God and His calling – it’s a book that certainly changed my life when I was in high school and it has the potential to change us as well. I’m excited!

DATEABILITY: Q&A with Chris and Jon

THE 5*6*7* KICKOFF

Friends, it’s time! The school year is quickly approaching and we need to get every hour in together before the students head back to their schools (or as they call it, prison).

That’s why we’re kicking off the school year with three days in a row of partying, prayer, and praise as a community. We want to start this year off right as we know God can do TONS in and through us even as we head to high school.

Here are the details to the epic kick off.

5pm on Monday, September 5th @ Willamette Christian Church: A huge party at the church with games, FREE FOOD, and all of the friends you’ll need. Get pumped and be there to party before the year begins.

7:30pm on Tuesday, September 6th @ West Linn High School: As we begin the school year, we desire to see God move in powerful ways in our hallways and sports fields. That’s why we’re taking a night to simply pray all around our high school, begging God to change our hearts and lives and to work through us for the sake of our friends and teachers.

7pm on Wednesday, September 7th @Willamette Christian Church: We’re planning the greatest WEDNESDAY NIGHT we’ve ever done. Rend the Heavens will be leading worship as we look to praise God for who He is in our lives and what He will do in our city.

We have no idea what will happen in 2011-2012, but we do know who is there: God Almighty, the maker of heaven and earth. We’re excited to partner with him and be changed in the process. Will you join us as we join Him? Let’s kickoff this year right.

Podcast // Episode 11: Becoming the Person God Intended You to Be

Pastor Chris teaches on Ephesians 4 and how God desires us to have joyous lives being gracious, truth-speaking adults – not immature children.

Podcast // Episode 10: How to Ruin a Relationship

Pastor Chris continues the Dateability series with a teaching on how relationships crumble…and how they’re rebuilt.

Podcast // Episode 9: Ten People to Never Date

Here’s the podcast of Jon Furman’s awesome talk entitled “Ten People to Never Date,” which he shared on Wednesday Night, August 3rd. Enjoy it…

Also, here are the people to NOT date (10 guys and 10 girls):

Don’t Date a Girl Who…
Always has a boyfriend.
Flirts with everybody else.
Uses her body to get attention.
Talks about herself constantly.
Tells you how much she hates others.
Breaks up with someone else to be with you.
Has few same sex friendships.
Dates older guys.
Gets in other people’s drama.
says she likes you, but…

Don’t Date a Guy who…
Is a poor sport/sore loser.
Bought you an expensive gift.
Is constantly comparing himself to others.
Is never wrong/not his fault/never apologizes.
Treats you differently in public than in private.
Isn’t interested in your family.
Doesn’t ask you out.
Doesn’t respect boundaries.
Must be alone with you.
Never tells you no.

DATEABILITY: a four week series on the teenage dream

I’m excited to start DATEABILITY this Wednesday Night, July 27th at 7pm. Since we just got back from camp, this is a perfect time to talk about who to do date and who to stay away from. Beyond that, we’ll also be going through what exactly dating is and what it should be used for.

Associate Pastor Jon Furman will be helping me with this series and teaching a very special message next Wednesday, August 3rd called, “10 People to Never Date.”

You definitely do not want to miss this next month – it’s a perfect post-camp, pre-school year topic. See you at 7!
