Each year, around this time, we give our volunteer staff a break of three weeks to rest and reflect on God’s faithfulness to their families and to the ministry. This time off from our Wednesday Night program also gives me the ability to seek the Lord on what he might want us to do over the next year.

In a couple of weeks, it will mark the beginning of my 3rd year at Willamette. As I look back, I am filled with gratitude for all that God has been to me/my family and the students. Furthermore, I praise Him for your support and service of the high school ministry and the students that make up this little move of God.

Here’s a highlight of what he has done just this year and just in the high school ministry at Willamette Christian Church:

-Over 20 students made a decision to follow Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and express that decision through baptism.

-In the last 11 months, our weekly Wednesday Night gathering has gone from 100 to 150 students at our Christmas Party.

-We saw 34 students and 6 leaders encounter Jesus in a profound way in Managua, Nicaragua this past June.

-Our partnership with Young Life has continued to grow as we joined over 80 students to Malibu for summer camp.

-In connecting with last year’s senior class recently, we’ve realized that nearly all of them are still walking and growing with Jesus and making disciples on their respective college campuses.

-Eight upper-classmen are serving middle school students through mentorship and discipleship every week.

As I look ahead to 2012, I couldn’t be more excited about this ministry. We’re seeing young people come to know Jesus, and because of that, be changed forever into more generous, courageous people.

Would you continue to pray for us as we enter this new year? We need more vision from God, more depth in his Holy Spirit, and a great revelation of his love to be shown in the south Portland metro area. We are not confident in our own abilities to reach students, but in his ability to reveal his goodness to them.

“And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” – Jesus

Let’s continue to lift him up, so that all students would be drawn to his glory and grace.

Blessings,

Pastor Chris
